Questions

Ask a coach

No. Weight management is only recommended at the middle school or high school level, depending on the competition, and even then strict rules protect wrestlers’ health.

We do use the season to talk about healthy eating habits that help kids feel better when they compete.

In short, no. The mats are disinfected daily and anti-fungal foam is available in the room. We also recommend a shower right after practice. With those habits, ringworm and other skin infections are rare.

Cauliflower ear comes from repeated pressure and friction on the ear, and usually doesn’t show up until wrestlers train hard at upper levels.

Wearing headgear in practice and competition is a simple, very effective way to prevent it.
